Emerson House is a
stately mansion that was originally the residence of the Emerson
family. This spectacular home located at the base of the
Adirondack Mountains, was built about 1830. There
are 22 unique rooms in the house. Many of the rooms are common
areas and are open to our guests.
CA Emerson settled in
Warrensburg, New York in the 1830's and built the predominantly Greek Revival home
that has always been known as the Emerson House.
His sons Louis
and James were raised in the house, as was James' son, Albert. CA
began his career as a merchant and soon branched out to other activities
including lumbering, the Empire Shirt Factory, and founding the first
bank in Warrensburg-the Emerson National Bank, now the
Glens Falls
National Bank. Louis and James both were active in politics, Louis
as a Senator and James as a Representative to the State. Albert
followed in the family tradition as a banker.
